There are things that Christian preachers don’t like to talk about in their Sunday sermons, things they don’t teach in Sunday school. These sinister corners of Christianity influence the actions of Christians, however, informing the most violently extreme manifestations of Christian theology.

For example, most Christian churches don’t tell kids in their Sunday school classes about the time that Jesus cursed the children of Jerusalem with death as punishment for their parents’ refusal to worship him as a god king. (Luke 19:42-44)
