When Louisiana forced every public school classroom to post commands for all the state’s children to obey the god of the Christian Bible, Joe Biden did nothing. He said nothing.
When Oklahoma required every public school classroom to contain a Christian Bible and required every high school science class to teach from the Christian Bible instead of real science, Joe Biden did nothing. He said nothing.
Instead of confronting Christian Nationalism, Joe Biden is encouraging it.
Christian Nationalists are campaigning to dismantle American democracy and replace it with a Christian theocracy, and Joe Biden isn’t doing a thing to stand in their way.
Americans who believe in a democracy in which everyone has the right to make their own choices about what to believe about religion, without government interference, deserve a presidential candidate who will vigorously defend that vision. Joe Biden is not that candidate.
The time is long overdue for Joe Biden to step aside, resign the presidency, and allow Vice President Kamala Harris, who grew up in a multi-religious household, to become the 2024 presidential nominee.
