Christian Nationalist Jesus Is A Messiah of Fascism

Who are we to say that Jesus would not, if somehow magically lifted out of the pages of a mythical text, transported around the world and two thousand years into the future, be a supporter of Christian Nationalism?

It’s a pretty implausible scenario to imagine Jesus having anything to say about American politics, but the Christian messiah did in fact advocate for extremist totalitarian governments and radical acts of violence in the name of religion.

Of course, Jesus is a character from a book, not a living human being. So, different Christians pick and choose bits of the Christian holy book to emphasize the character of Jesus that best fits their own values. Some cherry pick bible passages to depict Jesus as a loving advocate of non-violence. Others cherry pick bible passages to depict Jesus as a raving zealot who was looking forward to slaughtering anyone who refused to worship him.

Christian Nationalism makes a choice based on the personal preferences.

Christian Nationalism makes Jesus a messiah of fascism.
